Do Not Fear | Serving God with Faith in His Promises

Do not fear!

Matthew 10:16 - “Behold I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.”

Jesus sends his 12 disciples out to preach His word.

Three times He says, “Do not fear”, and once, “Do not worry.”

But He also warns that some will not receive them, and some will hate them and persecute them. So why shouldn’t they fear or worry?

Because of His promises.

*Verses 1, 8 - He gave them power to cast out demons and to heal the sick.

*Verses 9 - 11 - He promised provision to take care of them.

*Verses 19 - 20 - He would give them the words to speak.

*Verses 27 - 31 - As God’s spokesperson they were under His care and will.

So how do we not fear?

By faith in God’s promises. All of these promises, (power, provision, protection, the words to speak), were not given until they needed them.

That is what faith is.

That God WILL help and provide when we step out in faith and obedience.

Two thoughts to help us not fear :

*Trust, believe in God and His promises : The just shall live by faith - Romans 1:17

*God is faithful - “Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments” - Deuteronomy 7:9

Added bonus : God will not give us more than we can handle! - 1 Corinthians 10:13

Let us move forward in faith and not fear as we serve our faithful God!
